Blueprint to Jazz Blues is a course designed for players who come from a rock or blues background and are looking to gain expertise in authentic jazz blues sound. The course focuses on developing skills in areas such as comping, accompaniment, walking bass, turnarounds and jazz blues phrasing, so that you can expand familiar blues language into a well refined and harmonically rich jazz approach.

What you will learn
The course is divided into two main parts: a harmonic part and a more linear approach. In the harmonic part, you will learn jazz blues comping concepts, the comping ladder, different accompaniment settings, big band-like comping with extensions, Freddie Green-style playing, walkups, walking bass lines, shell voicings, turnaround variations, and Bird blues. In the linear part, you will work on I7 to IV7 movement, static dominant chord ideas, resolving into the fifth bar, I–VI7–ii–V7 movement, and blues phrasing without relying on bends. The course also includes demonstrations and breakdowns in keys such as F, Eb, G, and Bb, helping you connect the material directly to real jazz blues situations.
