Pocket Music

The Pocket Music course strives to facilitate a keyboard-like command of the guitar as the sole accompanying instrument behind a vocalist or a lead instrument. The legacy repertoire (Pop, R&B, Jazz and in between) that is commonly played worldwide is used as the vehicle to illustrate how the guitar can be played in  a harmonically and rhythmically advanced and intricate way. Additionally, this project was thought of with the working musician in mind, considering that the duo setting is one of the most common configurations for live music around the world.

This course covers many playing styles and techniques like playing with all five fingers to achieve a more pianistic polyphonic sound, bass and high mids separation between the thumb and four fingers, the use of the Boss OC-3 Octave pedal to achieve bass lines that are articulated  independently of the harmonic groove, using the pick, looping and much more. The course promotes the supremacy of the underlying groove while navigating functional harmonies with tasty and surprising substitutions.

Pocket Music comes with two options: the course has over 2 hours of instruction, and comes with 6 songs. For each song there is a performance with a singer, and a detailed explanation/breakdown of how to play the song. Subscribers to our Silver and All Access Programmes get access to much more: not just the course and 6 included tracks, but our entire library of Pocket Music. We have a catalogue of more than 100 tracks ready, and we’re releasing a new track for subscribers every week. Here is a sample:
