Pocket Music Course

Pocket Music is a central part of the MIAGO Academy ideology, focused on developing keyboard-like command over the guitar. This course is designed for players who want to accompany a singer or melodic instrument to fill the full sonic spectrum with rich harmony, bass lines, groove & melodic fills. The goal is to think beyond basic accompaniment and create complete musical parts that support the melody with depth, movement and control.

What you will learn

You will learn how to build stronger harmonic orientation through shell voicings, spread triads, minor and major hexatonic sounds, 3rds and 6ths, triads over bass, add9 sounds, Mixolydian dominant colors, common chord progressions, and cadence variations. You will also learn the use of upper-structure triads over different types of chords, groovy bass lines, and ornamentation. Beside the instructional material, we also provide performances of the following songs, each accompanied by an individual breakdown: “Ain’t Nobody,” “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You,” “Don’t Start Now,” “Fly Me To The Moon,” “Never Too Much,” and “Summertime”. These songs showcase use of everything you learn in the course and allow you to see these tools work inside real musical situations.
